This is an introduction to spinning with a drop spindle. The cost includes materials and a basic wooden drop spindle. Class time is scheduled for 8:30-11:30 AM Saturday March with Sherry Murtle in Building C.
The class with introduce you to drafting and spinning fiber into yarn. Students will be introduced to raw wool prep, and the steps to making it into a yarn. There will be various tools demonstrated to prep fiber, including the terms used in spinning. Fees include a basic wooden drop spindle and 2 ounces of easy-spinning US wool for you to get started on your journey.
The class will help students feel more comfortable and confident in steps to making yarn. The class will provide a better understanding of fibers, and the tools used for spinning yarn. Are you ready to try spinning?
As knitters we are always looking for ways to finish and embellish our projects. In "Crochet for Knitters," you'll learn how to use crochet techniques to finish your knits, add beautiful edges, and one-of-a-kind embellishments.
Basic crochet skills are necessary for this class, single crochet and chain stitch.
Please bring:
Four 4x6 inch worsted weight swatches
US size F or G hook
6 (2)ounce balls of worsted weight yarn, leftovers are fine.
A plain project or large swatches
Knitting tools ( darning needle, scissors etc)
An adventurous spirit!
This clas will offer basics and tips on sculpting with wool. Basic shapes will be covered by making a bunny. The main focus of the class will be making the bunny face and detailing the bunny character. The body, foot, arm, and leg process will be covered as well as written instructions provided. This class is for 12 and above. Please bring your ideas for future creations to the class, as we can discuss methods to achieve them. Welcome to your new hobby!
